Celebrating success and planning for the future

This is a special time of year filled with celebration, reflection and anticipation. Across the country, Chickasaw students are preparing for graduation, families are making plans for summer activities and communities will be coming together for events and fellowship.

As the school year concludes, we celebrate the accomplishments of those reaching milestones and congratulate all Chickasaw graduates. Graduation is a proud moment that reflects hard work, perseverance and the support of families, educators and communities. It is an achievement that inspires the next generation, and we look forward to seeing each graduate continue to succeed as they pursue their next goals.

Throughout the Chickasaw Nation, upcoming summer activities offer chances for connection and growth for Chickasaws of all ages. Chickasaw Nation camps, clinics and academies continue to provide meaningful opportunities for young people to learn, grow and build lasting friendships. From nature and cultural camps that strengthen language and cultural connections, to sports and art programs that encourage activity and ignite creativity, these experiences create memories and develop lifelong skills for continued success.

Across our communities, conferences, recreational activities and family-friendly events will celebrate the spirit of the Chickasaw Nation and Chickasaw people. We are proud to offer programs and events that enrich Chickasaw lives while honoring our heritage.

The inaugural Chickasaw Youth Leadership Chickasaw in early June will educate young Chickasaw leaders on Chickasaw history and government, fundamentals of leadership and the importance of professionalism. Throughout the weeklong conference, attendees will have opportunities to learn new skills while gaining confidence and creating enduring connections with other future leaders.

The annual Chickasaw Elders Conference will take place June 3 and 4 at the WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma. This conference is designed to share knowledge, resources and updates for Chickasaw elders age 60 or older.

Attendees are able to reconnect with friends, meet new ones and learn more about the Chickasaw Nation’s programs and services dedicated to enriching the lives of elders.

Likewise, the Chickasaw Veterans Conference offers our Chickasaw warriors an opportunity to meet and learn about programs and services available to them through the Chickasaw Nation. This will be the ninth annual conference where veterans, active duty, National Guard and reserve service members will gather for a day of keynote discussions, informative panels and special presentations tailored to the needs of veterans and military families.

The Chikasha Ittafama (Chickasaw Reunion), located at the Kullihoma Grounds east of Ada on June 5 and 6, will be a celebration of Chickasaw culture, traditions and fellowship. A variety of cultural activities, demonstrations and games will be enjoyed during the two-day event.

This summer, we will gather, we will celebrate, and we will enjoy the comradery of our friends, family and community. Whether we take part in tribal, family or community events, these are the moments we will cherish. We hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable end to the spring season, and we look forward to an eventful and memorable summer.
