The Chickasaw Nation has a rich, proud history of education. Following the War Between the States, the tribe rapidly expanded its number of elementary and secondary schools. In 1867 alone, the Chickasaw Nation opened 11 new schools and welcomed scores of Chickasaw and other Indian students. Attorneys for the Chickasaw and Choctaw nations filed a friend of the court brief in the U.S. Supreme Court supporting Oklahoma in its dispute with the Tarrant Regional Water District.
McCaleb named Ambassador at Large
Governor Bill Anoatubby has named Neal McCaleb Ambassador at Large for the Chickasaw Nation. As Ambassador at Large, Mr. McCaleb will serve in a capacity similar to that of the late Charles Blackwell, who was Chickasaw Nation Ambassador to the United States from 1995 until his passing on January 2 of this year.
16th Annual Chikasha Ittifama May 17-18
KULLIHOMA - The 16th Annual Chikasha Ittifama (Chickasaw Reunion) is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 17-18, at Kullihoma. The gathering is free and welcomes Chickasaws and guests from across the country.
Gov. Anoatubby inducted into Historians Hall of Fame
