Chickasaws can get involved in ‘Ackia,’ training program

Throughout time, Chickasaws have played a pivotal role in shaping the history of this country. A particularly exciting chapter in Chickasaw history was shaped by the Battle of Ackia.

“Ackia” is an upcoming feature film depicting the 1736 Battle of Ackia in which Chickasaw warriors defended their homeland from a much larger French force.

This single battle changed the course of history and laid the foundation for what would eventually become the United States of America. It is an important event for Chickasaws and all Americans.

Many exciting opportunities are upcoming for Chickasaw Nation citizens to be involved in “Ackia.”

Join the filmmakers on the journey to bring Ackia to the screen by participating in the Ackia Training Program. This program will consist of classes in weapons training, stunt training, history and culture, horseback riding, acting and a warrior fitness program.

In addition to completing these classes, some program participants will be required to have an EKG, a physical and a biometric screening. The classes are currently available in Ada, Norman and Thackerville, Okla.

To participate, you must attend one of the following one-hour come-and-go informational sessions. Information regarding the Ackia Training Program will be given at the top of every hour.
